This endeavor is one of love and
dedication. All the information and opinions about
Belter furniture expressed on this website are
based on thirty years of experience, first as
a collector and later as an auctioneer of Belter
furniture.
I first had an interest in Belter
furniture in the early 1970's, and I bought my
first piece of Belter furniture at Morton's Auction
Exchange in New Orleans. I will never forget how
beautiful that little loveseat was. I was fortunate
to meet Charles Primrose, a long time collector
of Belter furniture who shared with me many things
he had learned about Belter furniture.
After many years as a collector I had the opportunity
to join in a business venture with a long time
friend, Gary Lockhart, an auctioneer in Colorado.
Lockhart and I conducted the legendary Pettigrew
Auction Company VICTORIANA OF THE ROCKIES auctions
together in the late 1980's and 1990's. We sold
a lot of Belter furniture. We made a few world
record prices and many friends.
